FrontPage is a web site editing program published by Microsoft.  It is designed to make

it easy for people to create and publish web sites.

Microsoft FrontPage provides the capability to automatically make certain parts of your

web site do things -- like supporting a guestbook, for example.  To do this, Microsoft

FrontPage relies on having a set of "extensions" loaded on to the web server.  For those

web sites hosted on Windows Server-based systems, this is easy since the FrontPage

extensions are an intregal part of IIS (Internet Information Services).

For those who have web sites hosted on a Linux based web server, it is necessary to

load some software called "FrontPage extensions", since these provide the capabilites

that Microsoft FrontPage needs to do its thing.
